Seprify and Grolman Group broaden partnership to bring cellulose white pigment technology to industrial markets

  • SilvaFoliaTM now available for large-scale commercial trials

  • Grolman Group to support rollout across Europe and Turkey

Marly, Switzerland, 1st July
Seprify and the Grolman Group have broadened their partnership into the coatings, paints and inks market, building on their existing collaboration around SilvaLumaTM in cosmetics and personal care. The move marks a further step in Seprify’s expansion of its cellulose platform into higher-volume industrial applications.

The expanded partnership will focus on SilvaFoliaTM, Seprify’s white pigment technology for coatings, paints and inks applications. SilvaFoliaTM enables coatings manufacturers to reduce reliance on titanium dioxide while maintaining key optical and surface properties required in modern coating systems, helping meet growing demand for more sustainable coating materials.

Following positive performance testing and encouraging early customer feedback, the Grolman Group will support the commercialisation of SilvaFoliaTM across Europe and Turkey through its established technical and commercial network.

Developed from renewable cellulose feedstocks, SilvaFoliaTM offers a new approach to achieving whiteness and opacity in applications where titanium dioxide (TiO₂) has traditionally been the dominant white pigment. The technology forms part of Seprify’s broader platform, which is designed to deliver high-performance alternatives to conventional materials across multiple industries. SilvaFoliaTM is therefore closely aligned with the expertise and focus of Grolman, which specialises in providing a platform for innovative and circular products.

Under the partnership, the Grolman Group will provide formulation expertise, application testing and technical customer support to help manufacturers evaluate SilvaFoliaTM across a range of coating, paint and ink systems. Combined with the Grolman Group’s market reach and customer relationships, the collaboration is intended to accelerate the adoption of renewable pigment technologies in industrial applications.

The success of our collaboration around SilvaLuma showed the value that our cellulose platform can bring to the market,” said Lukas Schertel, CEO and co-founder of Seprify. “Expanding our partnership with the Grolman Group to include SilvaFoliaTM is a natural next step. Their technical expertise and market reach make them a strong partner as customers explore new approaches to whiteness and opacity in coatings, paints and inks.

We are pleased to extend our relationship with Seprify and introduce SilvaFoliaTM to our customers,” said Florian Grolman, Managing Director of Grolman Group KG. “The technology combines a strong sustainability profile with promising application performance, addressing growing demand for innovative solutions in the coatings and inks industry. We look forward to supporting customers as they evaluate its potential across a broad range of formulations.

SilvaFoliaTM is now available for large-scale commercial trials, with Seprify and the Grolman Group actively engaging manufacturers interested in evaluating the technology in coatings, paints and inks applications.

The partnership reflects Seprify’s broader strategy of turning cellulose into a cross-industry materials platform. Following progress in cosmetics, food and nutraceuticals, SilvaFoliaTM now brings that same technology into industrial formulations, where it can be tested in larger-volume applications and more demanding performance environments.
